TODAYS CATCH APRIL 28 th 2007
I got a turn to catfish, when it started to rain. We got the boats top up -almost just in time. Both our catfish rods went down near the same time : The fish on the left was the biggest of the two . And thats right he nailed my brand new port side planer bobber. Nothing had touched it the whole trip till it started raining. The other rod a black rod caught - 4 catfish and the surf rod with the planer bobber got one (it did lose one fish that got off after a short pull.) In all it was a great trip 3 hours we were on the water. The water temp at alum creek was 60 deg . Thats 7 deg colder than last week. All the fish we caught were trolling with a planer bobber and a straight bobber . Our bait was fresh shad that we cast netted and cut in half. The baits were set 3 feet down with a small 1/8 oz weight to keep it under water while we moved with the trolling motor I used treble hooks for a change they worked nice. The rods were out about 50 feet or so set in holders with the drag set pretty hard. We were moving about .03 less than a half mile per hour. All the catfish were hooked in the lips the second they took the bait. I will start useing treble hooks more.
This happy angler just caught the biggest fish of her life. I dont think anyone could be happier.
